What happened to the CIABOC Pandora papers investigation?

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) recently wrote to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) requesting an update on the investigations launched in connection to the Pandora Papers revelations.

TISL reemphasized the power of CIABOC under the Section 7(3) of the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Law No. 1 of 1975 (amended in 1988), to look into asset declarations of the persons implicated in the Pandora Papers leak, to determine if the assets revealed through the Pandora Papers are already declared in the asset declarations.

Following the Pandora Papers revelations TISL filed 2 complaints with CIABOC in connection to the assets of Former Dep. Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her spouse as well as former public official R. Paskaralingam

Through the letter, TISL requested to be informed of whether the asset declarations of the relevant individuals have been called for and examined by CIABOC. This information is key to to understanding whether the assets have been willfully omitted.
